The Sound of Absence

Cement | Dimensions variable | 2024

The Sound of Absence consists of nine wall-mounted cement works inspired by the traditional Qanat water systems of Iran. Each piece abstracts the subterranean channels, tunnels, and conduits through which water has been guided for centuries, transforming practical infrastructure into a visual meditation on the invisible networks sustaining life. The textured surfaces, grooves, and channels evoke the movement of water while tracing patterns reminiscent of neural pathways, connecting material history with biological analogies.
